IOWA CITY, Iowa - Northwestern won its seventh match in a row and its third straight Big Ten match this afternoon. The lone goal was scored at the 17:30 mark of the first half when senior defender Kristen Palmer (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) floated a Wildcat corner kick toward the goal and sophomore forward Brooke Bell (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) headed the ball past the sprawled Iowa goalkeeper.
The Wildcats outshot the Hawkeyes 17-8 in the match, holding off a furious Iowa rally in the game,s final 15 minutes. Bell's goal was her fifth of the season, giving her 13 points for the season and extending her team scoring lead. The Wildcats, next opponent, Minnesota, is 4-1 on the season and undefeated in Big Ten play entering Friday's matches.
