EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior wide receiver D'Wayne Bates and senior linebacker Barry Gardner were named first-team All-Big Ten by the Big Ten media. It was the second such honor for both players. Bates leaves Northwestern as the Big Ten's second all-time leader in pass receptions (210) and receiving yards (3,370). Gardner's 468 tackles ranks him second on NU's all-time list. Also senior placekicker Brian Gowins, NU's career leading scorer, earned honorable mention honors by the media. All three student-athletes will earn their degrees from Northwestern this school year.
