Wildcat Softball Drops Two At Illinois-Chicago

EVANSTON, Ill. -The Northwestern softball team (21-17) had its six-game winning streak snapped as they lost two games at Illinois-Chicago tonight. The Wildcats lost game one, 10-5, and dropped the nightcap 12-0 in five innings.

Northwestern scored first in game one, as Tami Jones walked and came around to score on a double by Erin Jancic in the top of the first inning. The Flames roared back in their half of the second inning, turning eight hits and three errors into eight runs. Northwestern did not quit, scoring three in the top of the fifth. Mikie Chambers smashed her first extra-base hit of the season, an RBI double, and Jancic followed with a two-run double but that was as close as they would get. Jancic went 4-for-4 in the game with three doubles and four RBIs.

In game two, Illinois-Chicago jumped on Northwestern with two runs in the first and six in the second to take a commanding lead. Jancic went 1-for-2 to lead the offense.

Northwestern returns to action tomorrow, traveling to Loyola-Chicago for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
