EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern had three players with 10 or more kills as the host Wildcats knocked off Iowa, 15-11, 15-13, 15-7 in the Big Ten opener for both teams. Senior outside hitter Jessica Holloway paced the 'Cats with 13 kills and moved up to ninth on NU's all-time kills chart. Holloway surpassed Pattijean McCahill (1980-83) and now has 1,146 kills for her career. Senior setter Liz Renius passed out 41 assists, while junior middle blocker Kitty Owen recorded 10 kills and four blocks. Fifth-year senior Sharon Fisk led the Wildcats in hitting percentage with a .500 mark. She had 12 kills on 20 attempts.
Coach Kevin Renshler's team ups its season record to 11-2 and rides a seven-match winning streak into Saturday night's meeting with No. 6 Wisconsin. The Badgers defeated Indiana Friday night in Bloomington, 15-6, 15-12, 15-2.
