EVANSTON, Ill. - Michigan got its first Big Ten victory with a 15-7, 15-12, 15-12 victory at Northwestern this evening. It marked the eighth straight Michigan win in the series, dating back to Sept. 23, 1994.
The Wolverines were tough defensively, totaling 38 total blocks and limiting the Wildcats to a .043 hitting percentage.
Northwestern had chances to claw back, but 12 service errors put a damper on any serious rally. Senior outside hitter Jessica Holloway registered a match-high 10 kills and 10 digs. Eleven different players saw action for NU.
The Wildcats look to put an end to a two-match skid tomorrow night when the No. 21-ranked Michigan State Spartans come to town.
NEXT NORTHWESTERN MATCH: Sat., Oct. 3, vs. #21 Michigan State, 7 p.m., Welsh-Ryan Arena.
