Steketee Places 16th, Walters 18th at NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After not swimming any events on day one, Northwestern's men's swimmers competed in two events during day two of the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Sophomore Steve Steketee (Golden, Colo./Golden) finished tied for 16th place out of 48 competitors in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:37.26. Steketee had the field's second-fastest time after 50 yards, and was near the lead after the second 50, but slipped a bit in the final 100. Steketee's teammate, senior Brian Walters (Wyndmoor, Pa./William Penn Charter) logged a time of 48.51 in the 100-yard backstroke, good for 18th place.

Steketee will compete in the 100 free and Walters in the 200 back tomorrow during the final day of competition.
