EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern softball team (28-30, 9-12) used outstanding pitching from freshman Kelly Campbell to sweep a doubleheader from Wisconsin this afternoon in Madison, Wis. Campbell (6-3) went the distance in both games, shutting down the Badger offense. Freshman Gretchen Barnes gave Campbell all the support she would need in game one, belting a two-run home run in the 4-1 victory. Campbell allowed one unearned run on only two hits in the win.

The freshman duo kept it going in the nightcap. Barnes and senior Jill Nesbitt each had two-run doubles to stake the Wildcats to a 7-1 lead. That was more than enough for Campbell, who held the Badgers in check before settling for a 7-4 victory.

The Wildcats finish the regular season this weekend with a three-game series against Purdue. Saturdays doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. at Anderson Field in Evanston.
