EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern had a four-match winning streak halted by Purdue today, 5-2, but senior captain Doug Bohaboy (Palo Alto, Calif.) continued his winning ways with two wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. Bohaboy blanked Purdue's Jamie Gordon (6-0, 6-0) to improve to 6-1 in the Big Ten at the No. 1 spot. He has now won seven of his last eight dual matches and five-straight in the conference.
The Boilermakers set the tone early, winning two out of the three doubles matches to capture the doubles point. Senior Cris James clinched the win for Purdue at No. 3 singles. He came back after dropping the first set (6-7 (6)) to upend NU's Derrick Nguyen (Darnestown, Md.) 6-3, 6-0.
Northwestern was without freshman Joost Hol (Santa Ana, Calif.) who suffered a sprained ankle in his singles match victory last weekend at Penn State.
The Wildcats drop to 9-8, 4-3 in the Big Ten, while the Boilermakers improve to 13-6, 5-3 in the conference.
NU takes on Indiana tomorrow at noon at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
