EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern softball team rallied to salvage a split in todays doubleheader with Loyola-Chicago. The Wildcats dropped the first game, 8-0, and fell behind 1-0 in the second game before rallying to win the nightcap, 3-1.

Freshman Erin Jancic, the teams leading hitter, managed the Wildcats only hit in the game one loss. She came back in game two and rapped a two-run single in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give Northwestern the lead for good. Jancic has hit safely in 14 of her last 15 games. Sophomore Brooke Siebel relieved freshman Kelly Campbell in the fourth, and shutout the Ramblers the rest of the way on three hits to raise her record to 16-11.

Northwestern returns to action this weekend with a three-game series at Penn State. Both teams are a perfect 3-0 in Big Ten play this season.
