Men's Tennis Competes in ITA Region IV Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Northwestern senior Doug Bohaboy (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and junior Martin Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden/Brammkyrka) fell in the doubles title match of the 1998 ITA Region IV Championships Monday afternoon. The Wildcat duo dropped a heart-breaking 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) decision to Michigan State's Kigongo and Trinidad.

Bohaboy and Bengtsson were seeded ninth going into the tournament. They received a bye in the first round of 64 which got underway last Friday. In their march to the finals, the tandem defeated Dalley and Smith of Notre Dame, (8-1), Loughrin and Schumacher of Wisconsin, (9-7), Laski and Sontag of Illinois, (8-5) and Al-Agba and Myers of Purdue, (8-1).

The ITA Region IV Championships concluded the fall portion of the Northwestern men's tennis schedule. The team will resume action in January.
