EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern head men's swimming coach Bob Groseth has announced the signing of three high school seniors to National Letters of Intent.
"We have three quality kids that will fill in some critical vacancies in our program," Groseth said.
The following swimmers will compete at NU beginning in the 1999-2000 season:
Kellan O'Conner (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy) was an Arizona High School state champion and an all-American in the 100-yard butterfly. Groseth expects to use him both in backstroke and butterfly.
Mike Shue (Ft. Myers, Fla./Ft. Myers) is a Senior National qualifier and 1998 Southwest Florida Swimmer of the Year.
"Mike joins a group of strong distance swimmers and will solidify our distance events for the next four years," said Groseth.
Eugene Kim (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) is the Illinois Senior State Champion and an all-American in the 100 breaststroke.
"Eugene will be our No. 1 sprint breaststroker and be counted on in both medley relays," Groseth said.
