EVANSTON, Ill. - Evan Eschmeyer scored 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season, but it wasn't enough for the Northwestern Wildcats (9-5, 2-3) who fell to the 17th ranked Wisconsin Badgers 57-49.

The game was tied at the half 23-23, thanks to eight points from Eschmeyer and six from Sean Wink, but the Wildcat offense went cold after the break, not scoring a field goal in the half's first 9:38. During that span, the Badgers outscored the 'Cats 14-3.

The 'Cats managed to cut the lead to three with 2:21 remaining, but were unable to get any closer with the Badgers shooting a perfect eight-for-eight from the foul line in the game's final two minutes.

Along with Eschmeyer's 24 points, the 'Cats got nine from Wink and six from David Newman. Wisconsin (16-3, 4-2) was led by the tandem of Sean Mason and Jon Bryant, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively.

Northwestern next takes to the floor when they host the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.
