Gardner Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior linebacker Barry Gardner was awarded a $5,000 scholarship by the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee. Gardner graduated from Northwestern with a 3.35 GPA and an undergraduate degree in communication studies. He was selected as an Academic All-American and has three Academic All-Big Ten honors to his credit.

Gardner led the Big Ten in tackles for the second-straight season and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection the past two seasons. The two-year captain finished his career second all-time in total tackles at Northwestern with 468.

In December, Gardner was named a National Scholar-Athlete Award winner by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Gardner received a $18,000 post graduate fellowship from the Foundation.
