Evan Eschmeyer Named Big Ten Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern center Evan Eschmeyer (New Knoxville, Ohio/New Knoxville) has been named Big Ten Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced this morning. It is the second time in the last three weeks that Eschmeyer has earned conference player of the week honors.
Last week, Eschmeyer led the Wildcats to back-to-back Big Ten road victories at 16th-ranked Minnesota (58-55) and at Illinois (59-46). Eschmeyer tallied 24 points and 15 rebounds in the win over the Golden Gophers. He followed that with a 16-point, 17-rebound, five-assist performance at Illinois. For the season, Eschmeyer leads the Big Ten Conference in three categories: rebounds (10.1 rpg), double-doubles (seven) and field goal percentage (.611).
NU (9-3, 2-1 Big Ten) travels to 20th-ranked Indiana for a 5 p.m. CST game on Wednesday. The Wildcats' next home game is Sat., Jan. 16, as NU faces 17th-ranked Wisconsin. Tipoff in Welsh-Ryan Arena is scheduled for 11 a.m. CST. with the game being televised live on ESPN.
