
Evan Eschmeyer Earns Accolades

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern center Evan Eschmeyer has been named to the 10-man John R. Wooden All-American Team, as announced Tuesday night by the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Eschmeyer is the first Wildcat ever to earn a spot on the Wooden All-American team. The other nine members of the Wooden Award All-American team are Elton Brand (Duke), Mateen Cleaves (Michigan State), Richard Hamilton (UConn), Trajan Langdon (Duke), Andre Miller (Utah), Scott Padgett (Kentucky), Chris Porter (Auburn), Wally Szczerbiak (Miami, Ohio) and Jason Terry (Arizona).
This is the latest accolade Eschmeyer has received following his final season in a Northwestern uniform. He also earned first-team All-America honors from Sports Illustrated, College Hoops Insider and CNN/SI. Eschmeyer was a member of the All-America second team by the Associated Press, The Sporting News and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). In addition, he was a finalist for all three major National Player of the Year Awards (Wooden, Naismith, Robertson).
Eschmeyer concluded his career ranked among NU's all-time top 10 in 13 different categories: field goal percentage (1st), free throws made (1st), free throws attempted (1st), rebounds (1st), scoring (2nd), blocked shots (2nd), field goals made (3rd), games played (t-3rd), minutes played (4th), scoring average (6th), rebounding average (6th), games started (t-7th) and steals (10th).
