EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern sixth-year senior center Evan Eschmeyer has been named first-team All-Big Ten by both the media and coaches panels, it was announced this morning by the conference office. This marks the third-straight season that Eschmeyer has earned first-team All-Big Ten honors. Since the Big Ten began naming all-conference teams in 1948, only 14 other players have ever been named first-team All-Big Ten in three-straight seasons. The last to accomplish the feat was Indiana's Calbert Cheaney (1991-93).
The Wildcats (14-12, 6-10 Big Ten) are the eighth seed at this weekend's Big Ten Tournament at the United Center. Northwestern will face ninth-seeded Penn State at 1 p.m. CST in Thursday's opening round. The winner of that contest will play top-seeded Michigan State at 2 p.m. in Friday's quarterfinals.
