Austin, Texas - Northwestern senior Doug Bohaboy (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) worked his way into the singles main draw at the ITA Men's All-American Championships being held at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas. His courageous run ended in the round of 32 where he dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Notre Dame's Ryan Sachire on Friday afternoon.

Bohaboy earned his way into the main draw after advancing to the round of 16 of the qualifier. He started off the tournament with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over TCU's Martin Jirak. He then bested William Farah of Michigan, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3. On Thursday, he won his first round match in the main draw, a 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Pepe Caballero of New Mexico. That victory propelled him to the round of 32 where he faced Notre Dame's Ryan Sachire.

The Wildcats' other participant in the ITA Men's All-American Championships last week was senior Marc Silva (Telford, Pa./Pennridge). Silva earned an automatic bid to the singles main draw, however, was ousted by Cory Guy of UC Santa Barbara, 6-1, 6-4. Silva moved on to the consolation singles round on Friday where he was defeated 6-4, 6-4 by Mississippi's Vikrant Chada.

The Northwestern men's tennis team will next be in action on Oct. 23-25 when it participates in the Fighting Illini Invitational in Champaign, Illinois.

The ITA Men's All-American Championships is the nation's largest college tennis tournament as 348 singles players and 176 doubles teams look to claim the second leg of the ITA Collegiate Grand Slam. The first leg was the ITA National Clay Court Championships held in Baltimore, Md., Sept. 24-27.
