Bengtsson, Bohaboy Reach ITA Region IV Doubles Final

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Martin Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden/Brammkyrka) and senior Doug Bohaboy (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) will play Monday for the doubles title at the ITA Region Four Men's Tennis Championships being held at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility.
The Wildcat duo, seeded ninth going into the tournament, received a bye in the round of 64. In their march to the finals, Bengtsson and Bohaboy defeated Dalley and Smith of Notre Dame, (8-1), Loughrin and Schumacher of Wisconsin, (9-7), Laski and Sontag of Illinois, (8-5) and Al-Agba and Myers of Purdue, (8-1). They face Kigongo and Trinidad of Michigan State tomorrow at 3 p.m. for the title. Bohaboy enjoyed a fine run in singles play, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals before falling to Illinois' Oliver Freelove, (6-2, 6-2).
Other Wildcats who participated in the Midwest Regional this weekend were sophomores Brad Erickson (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) and Derrick Nguyen (Darnestown, Md./Quince Orchard) and freshmen Joost Hol (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) and Jamie Sahara (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph).
