Women's Volleyball Shut Down by Powerful Minnesota, 3-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - Despite an outstanding night from Carmen Burbach, the Northwestern women's volleyball team fell to Minnesota, 3-0, Friday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The loss put the Wildcats at 2-21 overall, 0-13 in the Big Ten. The Gophers are now 21-5 (12-2 Big Ten).
Burbach, a junior, had nine kills on 19 attempts without an error offensively, a .474 percentage. Defensively, she had 10 digs to lead the 'Cats. Leah Ackerman also had nine kills for Northwestern, while Kelly Meyer had 29 assists and eight digs.
However, the Wildcats had no answer for Stephanie Hagen, who had 11 kills and a .588 percentage. Nicole Branagh added 12 kills.
Northwestern will be home again Saturday, hosting Iowa at 7 p.m.
