Women's Volleyball Earns First Big Ten Win, 3-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - Led by steady play by Jennifer Zagorski and Kitty Owen, the Northwestern women's volleyball team defeated Iowa, 3-0, for its first Big Ten win of the year.
Game scores at Welsh-Ryan Arena were 15-2, 15-4, 15-8. The win upped Northwestern's record to 3-21 overall, 1-13 in the Big Ten.
Zagorski, who has led the Wildcats most of the fall, had 11 kills on the night and added five digs, while Owen garnered 10 kills. The pair sparked Northwestern to a .374 hitting night, compared to just .162 for the Hawkeyes.
Kelli Meyer had 39 assists, while Carmen Burbach led the defensive effort with 10 digs to go with eight kills. For Iowa, Julie Williams had 14 kills while Sara Meyermann added 10.
Northwestern will be back in action next weekend on the road, taking on Indiana Friday night and Illinois Saturday night.
