Women's Volleyball Falls To Michigan, 3-0

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern Volleyball team fell to the University of Michigan in three games Friday night 15-11, 15-6 and 15-9, at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Northwestern falls to 4-25 overall and 2-17 in the conference.
Junior Carmen Burbach (Columbus, Neb./Scotus Central Catholic) led the way for the 'Cats with 11 kills and seven digs. Seniors Kitty Owen (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Jennifer Zagorski (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) each added nine in the effort. Zagorski recorded a team-high 11 digs in the contest.
The 'Cats could not hold on in the second game, falling 15-6 after an 15-11 battle in game one. Game three was all Michigan as they went on a 7-0 run to seal the win. The Wolverines outhit the 'Cats .368-.149 and outblocked them 10-5.
For Michigan, Nicole Kacor and Joanna Fielder added 13 and 12 kills in the winning effort. Michigan improves to 15-14 overall and 7-13 in the conference.
The 'Cats are back in action Saturday night as they take on Michigan State in their final game of the regular season.
