EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's volleyball team fell to Wisconsin, 3-0, Saturday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena. Game scores were 15-3, 15-13, 15-11 for the Badgers and put NU's record at 2-18 overall (0-10 Big Ten).
After a quick first game, the Wildcats came out and gave Wisconsin all it could handle in Game 2. Down, 14-4, Northwestern fought all the way back to within a point ? staving off seven game points in the process ? before the Badgers' Jenny Maastricht ended it with a solo block on a Wildcat kill attempt.
In Game 3, Northwestern hung around but could not ever gain the advantage as the Badgers completed the sweep.
Kitty Owen led the Wildcat offense with 10 kills, while Jennifer Zagorski had nine digs to pace the defensive effort. For Wisconsin, Maastricht had 12 kills, one solo block and three block assists.
Northwestern moves into the second half of the Big Ten's round-robin regular season next weekend, beginning with Ohio State Friday night.
