EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University field hockey team dropped to 0-8 in the Big Ten Conference Friday afternoon, falling to the University of Michigan 5-1.
The eighth-ranked Wolverines extended their winning streak to five games and upped their conference record to 6-1.
Lindsay Wright (St. Catherines, Ontario/Ridley College) scored the lone goal for the Wildcats on an assist from Amy Haase (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) midway through the first half. NU outshot the Wolverines in the first half 6-4 but found themselves on the short end of a 2-1 score. Michigan then put it away with three second-half goals.
Kelli Gannon and Jocelyn La Face each scored two goals for Michigan, while Catherine Foreman had two assists.
Northwestern is back in action Sunday, meeting Michigan State.
