EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's soccer team scored first in its match with Illinois-Chicago Wednesday afternoon on Lakeside Field, but it was all UIC after that as the Flames rolled to a 4-1 victory.
The loss dropped NU to 1-12 overall, while UIC improved to 11-3.
The Wildcats got on the board in the 14th minute, when David Mooradian scored a superb goal with assists going to Frank Lawson and Doug Gibson. However, UIC drew level 10 minutes later when Ryan Lindgren netted a pass from Eric Lukin. That's how the half ended.
Lukin then put the game away with a pair of goals to start the second half. His first came just 4:41 into the stanza, and then his next came 10 minutes later. Both were unassisted efforts. John Collins closed out the scoring in the 70th minute.
UIC outshot Northwestern, 18-11, as Matt Keeler had three saves in the Wildcat goal. Chris Jamal made just one stop for the Flames.
The Wildcats will be back in action Sunday at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
