Katie Brown serves as the Director of Operations for Alumni Relations and Development at Northwestern.
Brown previously served as Northwestern's Director of Athletics Events and Hospitality beginning in 2019, reflective of her comprehensive leadership on all athletics campaign and special events along with elevating the premium experiences at Welsh-Ryan Arena and Ryan Field. She began her Northwestern career in August 2014 as Manager, Special Events – Athletics. In that role, she planned campaign celebrations, annual stewardship events, and fundraisers, along with overseeing game-day premium hospitality at Ryan Field.
Brown first came to Northwestern after 10 years at Levy Restaurants, where she learned the intricacies of the food and beverage industry, including opening restaurants, developing extensive marketing strategies, and overseeing customer service and logistics for some of the largest sports venues in the world. Through her various roles with Levy, she propelled global marketing initiatives, oversaw media training, managed public relations and branding for more than 12 restaurants, built an online ordering solution, and launched an email software system. She also held game-day roles with both the Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals in their premium areas and planned more than a dozen weddings.
Brown earned a degree in sports management and a minor in coaching from Miami University in 2003. During her time at Miami, she discovered her passion for managing athletics events as a game operations intern in the athletics department.
