Brandon Benson was hired as a Graduate Assistant for the Northwestern Men’s Basketball program prior to the beginning of the 2019-20 season. He assists the Northwestern Men’s Basketball coaching staff in day-to-day operations such as preparing scouting edits, coordinating film review and exchange, on-court workouts, and practice duties.
Benson came to Northwestern following a four-year tenure as a manager at Middle Tennessee State University. While at MTSU, Benson was a key member of two Conference USA Championship teams under Head Coach Kermit Davis, including an NCAA Tournament victory in 2017, and served as Head Manager under Head Coach Nick McDevitt.
In 2019, Benson was nominated and selected one of 12 student managers from across the country selected to assist in the inaugural NCAA Basketball Academy hosted by the University of Illinois. During the academy, Benson worked with over 200 high school recruits while assisting coaches across all divisions of basketball during drills and games while handling day-to-day tasks throughout the academy.
A 2020 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Benson earned his bachelor’s degree in Leisure and Sport Management, and is completing his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration at Northwestern University.
