Chicago Tribune: NU Video Coordinator is Blazing Trails
Darby Dunnagan joined Northwestern as the program's Director of Video Operations in July, 2013, after a successful six-year stint as video coordinator for the football program at the University of Memphis.
Dunnagan was elected President of the Collegiate Sports Video Association on May 17, 2018, at its annual conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She served a two-year term, and is currently operating in a post-president advisory role that will last until May of 2021. Dunnagan served as the Vice President since 2014.
In her role with the Wildcats, Dunnagan is responsible for the supervision of Northwestern's football video staff, coordinating filming of every practice and providing edited practice and opponent footage to the coaching staff. She also contributes to the football program's efforts related to shooting and editing post-production features on players and special events.
Dunnagan maintained similar responsibilities at Memphis and also assisted in the online streaming of various athletic competitions and press conferences to the Tigers' official athletic website. Dunnagan was named the Conference USA Video Coordinator of the Year in 2010-11 and 2012-13 and also was the 2013 Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year.
A native of Rural Retreat, Va., Dunnagan worked two years as a graduate assistant in the video department at Marshall prior to coming to Memphis. While at Marshall, she prepared and distributed weekly opponent exchange tapes, supervised student assistants and assisted the video coordinator in the day-to-day operations of the department. She earned her master's degree in sports administration in May, 2007.
Dunnagan got her start in athletics at the University of Virginia while working on a bachelor's degree in anthropology and sociology. She was a student manager for the football team for two seasons before switching to the video department. She worked three years in video operations and earned her bachelor's degree in May, 2005.
