Brent Musburger (Honorary Inductee)
Musburger has had a distinguished career with most notably CBS, ABC and ESPN. Musburger has covered both professional and collegiate sports. In 1990, he joined Keith Jackson as one of ABC's primary play-by-play voices for college football and basketball. Musburger's efforts have primarily focused on Big Ten and Pacific-10 Conference games.
Musburger anchored virtually every top sporting event covered by CBS during his career with that network. He was the host of "The NFL Today" pregame, halftime and postgame broadcasts. In addition, he was the lead play-by-play announcer for the NCAA basketball Championships, calling the action of several memorable title games. Brent also hosted "CBS Sports Saturday/Sunday," the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, the National Basketball Association Finals, the prestigious Masters Tournament and the Pan American Games.
Since joining ABC/ESPN, he has called many memorable college football and basketball games, including the Wildcats' stunning 54-51 defeat of Michigan in 2000.
While attending Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, Musburger joined the Chicago American, where he became an award-winning sportswriter. His broadcast career started when he joined WBBM Radio as sports director in 1968. He was later named sports director of WBBM-TV before moving on to Los Angeles to co-anchor the nightly news for KNXT-TV.
