Eleven Wildcats Tally Goals in 18-7 Win Over No. 20 Army West Point

2/14/2026 3:21:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse

EVANSTON, Ill. —  No. 2 Northwestern secured a bounce-back victory over No. 20 Army West Point inside Ryan Fieldhouse on Saturday, prevailing 18-7.

"Obviously back to the drawing board, relative to our performance as a whole — we were really trying to figure out how we could learn from that last game," Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller said. "They were really sharing the ball and making the defense work. They were creating opportunities for each other."

Behind a balanced attacking effort, the Wildcats (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) never trailed as they handed the Black Knights (2-1, 0-0 Patriot League) their first defeat of the season. Eleven different scorers posted goals for Northwestern.

Despite drawing a consistent faceguard, senior attacker Madison Taylor tallied a game-high seven points (three goals, four assists). Taylor extended her NCAA-best points figure to 24in the win.

Senior attacker Lucy Munro recorded her first five points of the 2026 campaign (three goals, two assists). Munro had a hand in three of the Wildcats' first five goals.

"All week as a team, we talked about how we can build off each other's energy to make our own energy higher," Munro said. "I was really focused on that and cheering a lot for my teammates and eventually the points would come."

For the second time in three games, sophomore attacker Aditi Foster secured a hat trick. Foster has scored eight goals in 2026.

Transfer attackers Olivia Adamson and Maddie Epke each added three points. Adamson scored two goals and dished out an assist, while Epke provided two assists and a goal.

Redshirt junior attacker Abby Locascio, junior attacker Taylor Lapointe, redshirt junior attacker Rachel Weiner, first-year attacker Gabriella McCollester, redshirt first-year attacker Jenna Soto and sophomore midfielder Hannah Rudolph each chipped in a goal.

Graduate goalkeeper Jenika Cuocco made seven stops on a .500 save percentage. The three-time CAA Goalkeeper of the Year helped hold Army to its lowest scoring output of the season.

"We implement everything in practice and build that connection on the field," Cuocco said of her rapport with the defensive unit. "It makes it really easy to have confidence in my teammates knowing they have my back as well as I have theirs."

The 'Cats commanded the draw circle, building an 18-9 advantage on draw controls. Junior midfielder Madison Smith pulled down a team-high five draw controls, while Taylor, first-year midfield Kate Ratanaproeksa and Epke each tallied four.

Northwestern opened the game on a 5-0 scoring run before the Black Knights answered with three consecutive goals. By halftime, the Wildcats led 7-4.

A seven-goal flurry in the third quarter helped Northwestern build an eight-goal lead as the teams entered the final 15 minutes. Amonte Hiller's squad proceeded to shore up a commanding ranked victory and its first home win of the season.

"It was a great performance today," Amonte Hiller said. "We hope to continue to build off this because in order to be a great team, we have to have a lot of weapons."

The Wildcats will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 15 against Central Michigan inside Ryan Fieldhouse. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT on B1G+.
