Wildcats set to split squad for third time during indoor season

EVANSTON, Ill. (February 12, 2026) – Northwestern track will split its squad for the final time during the indoor season this weekend, sending student-athletes to a pair of meets.

A group of Wildcats will jet east to Boston, Mass. on Saturday for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, while another contingent will make the short trek south to the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park on Friday for the Blue Demon Alumni Classic in Chicago, Ill.

Making its second visit this season to Massachusetts' state capital, Northwestern is slated to compete in the open sections of both the 3,000m run and 5,000m run at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational beginning at 4:10 p.m. CT.  FloTrack will provide live coverage of Saturday's action.

The Wildcats will begin their Friday afternoon on Chicago's South Side at 3 p.m. CT in the mile run.  Northwestern will also be represented in the 800m run, 3,000m run, and 4x400m relay to close out the evening.

The 'Cats are coming off an outstanding showing at the Meyo Invitational to close the month of January.  In a two-day stay highlighted by multiple personal and season-best showings, Anna Hightower and Skye Ellis dazzled, both shattering program records in their respective events.  Hightower shaved 20 seconds off her previous mile run personal best, running 4:36.91 to earn a fifth-place finish in the prestigious Meyo Mile.  Ellis surpassed her own school record in the 800m run by three seconds, surging to a time of 2:07.23 en route to a heat victory.

Jackie Holman also impressed at the Loftus Sports Center, clocking a 5,000m run time of 16:00.60, a 15-second personal best, to finish third overall and move to third all-time at Northwestern in the event.

With just two weeks until the Big Ten Conference Indoor Championships, Northwestern enters the penultimate weekend of its regular season with five top-10 marks on the conference's indoor performance chart.

Northwestern wraps up the regular season portion of its indoor schedule at the Margaret Bradley Invitational in Chicago, Ill. on Saturday, February 21.
