EVANSTON, Ill. — In its second conference battle in three days, Northwestern fell 76-62 against Washington on Saturday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
"Give Washington credit, I thought they played very well tonight," Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins said. "It's a tough loss for us. Their physicality wore us down, and I thought we were a bit fatigued tonight."
The Wildcats (10-12, 2-9 ) launched a 14-3 run to cut the visiting lead to 53-45 with 9:27 remaining, but the Huskies (12-10, 4-7 Big Ten) ultimately held on for the win.
Northwestern turned in a balanced scoring effort, with four players posting double-digit points for the first time in conference play this season.

Senior forward Nick Martinelli recorded a team-high 19 points and nine rebounds, 13 of which came in the second half.
Junior forward Arrinten Page and junior guard Jayden Reid helped fuel a 33-4 bench points margin.

First-year forward Tre Singleton chipped in 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting. Singleton is the first Northwestern first-year with at least points in three consecutive Big Ten games since Bryant McIntosh did so from Jan 22-31, 2015.
Defensively, NU forced Washington into 11 turnovers.
"Two games in 48 hours at the Big Ten level with a lot of young guys playing, we have to get some rest here tomorrow," Collins said. "[We'll] come back on Monday, dust ourselves off and get ready for the next one."
The Wildcats will be back in action on the road at No. 9 Illinois on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Tipoff from State Farm Center is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network and ESPN 1000 WMVP.
