6-foot-1 forward rounds out incoming class for 2025-26 season
EVANSTON, Ill. (July 29, 2025) – Northwestern University head women's basketball coach Joe McKeown finalized his 2025-26 roster on Tuesday with the addition of Sandra Moreno (Barcelona, Spain/Institut Frederic Mompou). Moreno joins the 'Cats after an impressive career at Basket Almeda in Barcelona, Spain.
"I'm really looking forward to welcoming Sandra Moreno to Northwestern," McKeown said. "During the recruiting process, it was impossible to ignore Sandra's determination in attacking the glass at both ends of the floor. Coupled with the speed and versatility she brings at the forward position, we feel that she will be an outstanding fit in our system. We can't wait to see Sandra play as a Wildcat!"
Moreno was a fixture in the lineup for Basket Almeda this past season, appearing in 31 games en route to averaging 13.0 points. A 10-year player at the club, the versatile 6-foot-1 forward earned Most Valuable Player recognition in leading the U16 side to a Catalan Championship. Moreno also helped propel Basket Almeda to a ninth-place showing nationally.
The second member of Northwestern's incoming class to call Spain home, Moreno is no stranger to soon-to-be fellow first-year Amparo López, having competed against the Valencia, Spain product in national competition.
Moreno is the sixth and final member of the Wildcats' recruiting class ahead of the 2025-26 season. The group also includes the aforementioned López, graduate transfer Tate Walters (Buford, Ga./Buford/Furman), graduate student Sammy White (Timonium, Md./Dulaney), redshirt senior DaiJa Turner (Fayetteville, N.C./Village Christian Academy/TCU), and first-year Angelina Hodgens (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By-The-Sea).
