CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association has announced that Emily Fletcher, head coach at Northwestern University, is the 2024-25 Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride. In addition, assistant coach Beth Miller has been named the 2024-25 Division I Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year. This marks the first time in the history of the awards that both recipients have come from the same program. Miller becomes a two-time honoree, previously winning the award in 2015.
Fletcher and Miller have worked side by side at Northwestern University for 17 years. This year, the Wildcats never placed outside of the top eight and collected seven top three finishes. Northwestern capped its impressive season by claiming the program's first-ever NCAA Championship title.
The Wildcats, who were ranked No. 11 nationally entering the NCAA Championship Finals, beat No. 6 Arkansas and No. 2 Oregon to reach the championship round where they defeated No. 1 Stanford. Their title marks the 12th team national championship in Northwestern history.
In addition, the WGCA has announced the 2024-25 Golf Pride WGCA Regional Coaches of the Year:
Central Region Coach of the Year: Emily Fletcher, Northwestern University
South Region Coach of the Year: Amy Bond, Florida State University
East Region Coach of the Year: Ria Scott, University of Virginia
West Region Coach of the Year: Anne Walker, Stanford University
This is Fletcher's third Central Region Coach of the Year nod after being recognized in both 2016 and 2017.
