Wildcats Set to Begin NCAA Norman Regional

NORMAN, Okla. – Northwestern Women's Golf returns to the NCAA Championships for the fifteenth consecutive season, this year as the No. 2 seed at the NCAA Norman (Okla.) Regional. The Wildcats begin play on Monday, May 5. Due to expected inclement weather, teams will play 36 holes on Monday and tee times have been moved up to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday, May 6, or Wednesday, May 7.
Northwestern returns to the NCAA Regionals following a fourth place finish last year in East Lansing, Mich. Lauryn Nguyen paced the 'Cats with a score of five-under-par (70-71-70=211) to earn a share of fifth place as Northwestern fired a 54-hole total of 861 (284-288-289), a result that punched their ticket to the next round in Carlsbad, Calif.

The Field
The Wildcats travel to the Norman Regional, hosted by Oklahoma. Joining the 'Cats and Sooners in the field are No. 1 Stanford, No. 13 North Carolina, No. 24 Michigan State, No. 25 Duke, Baylor, Denver, Furman, Oregon State, Southern Mississippi and Tulsa.
The Course
Northwestern heads to the par-72, 6,445-yard Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, a course that has hosted multiple NCAA Regionals and amateur championships in its 74-year history.

Northwestern recently collected five all-conference selections. Nguyen and Yun were named to the All-Big Ten First Team, Dianna Lee and Elise Lee captured All-Big Ten Second Team recognition and Hsin Tai Lin received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
The Wildcats closed the regular season with a second place finish and a three-peat victory at the PING/ASU Invitational and Silverado Shootout, respectively, ahead of a fifth place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
On the individual front, Dianna Lee earned her first career victory at the PING/ASU Invitational and Nguyen convincingly captured her second career collegiate victory at the Silverado Showdown. At the Big Ten Championships, Hsin Tai Lin stayed towards the top of the leaderboard throughout the event, eventually finishing tied for fifth and being named to the Big Ten All-Championships Team.
The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional site will advance to play at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, May 16-21, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
