EVANSTON, Ill. – Dominant efforts by Madison Taylor and Sammy White earned both accolades from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association as the pair gave No. 3 Northwestern a clean sweep of the IWLCA's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards.

Taylor garnered Offensive Player of the Week recognition after notching a combined 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) in the Wildcats' perfect 2-0 week. In a Big Ten showdown at then-No. 4 Johns Hopkins, the junior attacker posted eight points (4 goals, 4 assists) in an emphatic 18-5 victory and chipped in seven more (5 goals, 2 assists) in a 15-6 win at Rutgers.

Against Johns Hopkins, Taylor set the tone for NU by scoring or assisting on five of the team's first six goals to erase an early 1-0 deficit and put up all eight of her points in the first half to stake the 'Cats to a 14-4 lead late in the frame. In another road conference tilt on Sunday, Taylor netted five goals and two assists while snagging three draw controls in a 15-6 victory over Rutgers. She netted at least one goal in each quarter against Rutgers. Taylor outscored both opponents by herself with eight points against Johns Hopkins (who scored five total goals) and seven against Rutgers (who scored six). For the season, Taylor leads the nation with 6.85 points per game while sitting second nationally with 4.92 goals per game.

White drew the IWLCA's Defensive Player of the Week nod after anchoring a Wildcats' defense that allowed only 11 goals for the week. She led all NU players with 10 ground balls while causing five turnovers and scooping up five draw controls (tied for second on the team). Northwestern's 5.50 goals per game for the week lowered its season scoring defense figure to 7.54 goals against per game, the third-best mark in the nation.

In a homecoming trip of sorts at Johns Hopkins, the Timonium, Md. native finished second on the team with three ground balls and three draw controls. Her positional play helped NU hold JHU to only five goals, nearly 10 goals below its season average of 14.17 per contest. She also chipped in a goal and an assist offensively and helped the Wildcats post a shutout in the second half of the dominant win. In Sunday's tilt at Rutgers, White led all players with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers while also picking up a pair of draw controls. The six goals allowed for NU marked the 10th time this season it has allowed fewer than 10 goals and the sixth time it has yielded six goals or fewer. Overall, White leads the Wildcats with 33 ground balls and is second on the team with 23 caused turnovers.

Northwestern returns to the field on Sunday when it hosts new Big Ten foe Oregon at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium. First draw is at 1 p.m. CT and the contest can be viewed live on B1G+.
