COLUMBUS, Ohio - No. 10 seed Northwestern men's tennis (12-17, 4-9 Big Ten) bowed out of the 2025 Big Ten Tournament in the first round on Thursday afternoon, falling to No. 7 seed Michigan (15-11, 8-5 Big Ten) by a final score of 4-0.
Michigan led from start to finish, beginning with the doubles point. The Wolverines used 6-2 wins at positions No. 1 and No. 3 to get the job done and jump out to a 1-0 advantage in the team score.
From there, Michigan continued to impress. All three of the necessary singles wins came in straight sets, as the Wolverines came away victorious at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 spots.
On the other courts, the 'Cats hung tough. Junior Chad Miller picked up a 7-5 win in his first set of action at No. 5 singles, giving him the lead when his match was abandoned. After falling in his first set, senior Felix Nordby bounced back with a 6-4 set two win. His match was tied at one set all when it was abandoned as well. At No. 1 singles, Saiprakash Goli played No. 60 Will Cooksey closely, dropping a tight first set, 6-4, before jumping out to a 4-0 advantage in a set two that would go unfinished.
Looking forward, head coach Arvid Swan is set to welcome back seven of this year's ten student-athletes next fall along with three incoming first-years.
