Taylor and White Named Tewaaraton Nominees

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Tewaaraton Foundation announced its top 25 nominees for the top lacrosse player in the nation on Thursday, and a pair of Northwestern standouts are among the coveted field.
Junior attacker Madison Taylor and senior defender Sammy White are representing the third-ranked Wildcats on the list for their efforts fueling the team's 12-2 record entering the final week of the regular season.
Taylor is making her second-straight appearance on the top-25 list of Tewaaraton nominees after finishing as a finalist a year ago. The Wantagh, N.Y. native leads the nation with 71 goals and 100 points. She has won Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week four times this season, including each of the past two weeks. She has netted hat tricks in 13 of NU's 14 contests and scored five or more goals on 10 occasions.
White has been a stalwart for a Northwestern group that sits third in the nation in scoring defense (7.71 goals against per game). She leads the team with 34 ground balls while ranking second in both draw controls (36) and caused turnovers (25). The senior defender's efforts have helped NU hold opponents under 10 goals in 10 of the team's 14 games. White has also won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
Four 'Cats have combined to win the Tewaaraton Award seven times in program history, with Izzy Scane winning the past two in 2023 and 2024. Kristen Kjellman (2006-07), Hannah Nielsen (2008-09) and Shannon Smith (2011) are the other winners in team history.
Taylor and White look to strengthen their Tewaaraton resumes when the Wildcats host No. 13 Michigan on Thursday, April 17 at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium. Opening draw is at 7 p.m. CT and the game can be viewed on BTN.
