'Cats Sweep Sunday Doubleheader at Home

2/16/2025 7:28:00 PM | Women's Tennis

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's tennis (6-4) swept a doubleheader at home on Sunday, beating UIC 5-2 in the morning match ahead of a 7-0 sweep of Milwaukee later in the evening. With the pair of wins, head coach Claire Pollard recorded her 600th win as a women's tennis head coach, becoming the ninth ever coach to reach the milestone.

The 'Cats made quick work of both of their opponents en route to the 2-0 day. In the morning match, Northwestern got the better of UIC (2-3) early, taking the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins from the duos of Erica Jessel and Sydney Pratt as well as Neena Feldman and Kiley Rabjohns

Rabjohns kept the match moving with Northwestern's first singles win as well, taking a 6-1, 6-3 victory to put the 'Cats back on top following a Milwaukee victory at singles No. 6. Next, Jessel, playing at No. 1 singles for the first time in her collegiate career, wrapped up a 6-4, 6-1 win to put Northwestern on the brink. Pratt supplied the clincher at the No. 2 position, winning 6-1, 6-3 to improve her perfect 5-0 singles record this dual season. After the match was decided, Feldman wrapped up a 6-3, 6-3 individual win as well.

The day's second match began similarly, with Northwestern winning the doubles point against Milwaukee (4-6) behind a pair of dominant victories. Feldman and Rabjohns picked up their second win of the day, 6-0, and Britany Lau and Katya Shepherd Johnson finished off the point with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.

From there, the 'Cats swept all six singles courts in straight sets against the Panthers. Pratt (6-0, 6-0), Feldman (6-1, 6-0), Rabjohns (6-0, 6-3) and Jessel (6-4, 6-2) all completed perfect days with their second singles wins. Autumn Rabjohns played at the No. 5 position, where she earned her fourth singles victory of dual season with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Jennifer Riester also came out on top of her matchup at No. 6, winning 6-4, 6-0.

Northwestern women's tennis will continue its home stint next Friday, when the 'Cats are set to host Vanderbilt in the first half of a combined doubleheader with men's tennis. The women's team is scheduled for a 4 p.m. first serve against the Commodores, with men's play to follow at 8 p.m. CT against Memphis.
