Northwestern, No. 23 Ohio State Clash Sunday In Big Ten Opener

‘Cats, Buckeyes set for 1 p.m. CT tip-off on Big Ten Network
EVANSTON, Ill. (December 6, 2025) – Northwestern (6-2) raises the curtain on its 18-game Big Ten Conference slate on Sunday afternoon when it welcomes No. 23 Ohio State to Welsh-Ryan Arena. The 1 p.m. CT tip-off will be televised on Big Ten Network, with Chris Vosters (play-by-play) and Sydney Parrish (analyst) on the call.
LAST TIME OUT
Grace Sullivan posted her fifth straight game of 20-plus points as visiting Kansas dealt Northwestern its first home defeat of 2025-26 in a 74-62 setback this past Wednesday.
Sullivan turned in another outstanding effort, leading all scorers with 24 points, in addition to six rebounds, three steals, and a block. Sullivan enters the weekend ranked third in the Big Ten and 10th nationally in scoring, averaging 22.8 points per game.
Caroline Lau dished out a game-high 10 assists to climb to seventh all-time at Northwestern in the category. Lau, who has seven games with eight-plus helpers this season, is currently averaging an NCAA-best 8.9 assists per game.
Tayla Thomas flirted with her fourth double-double of the young season, finishing with nine points and 11 rebounds. Thomas now has six games with 10-plus rebounds to her name in 2025-26.

Ohio State, which sits at No. 23 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll, enters Big Ten play on a four-game win streak that has seen the Buckeyes run their record to 6-1. Ohio State's lone loss this season came at the hands of No. 1 UConn, 100-68, on November 16 in Hartford, Conn.
Head coach Kevin McGuff piloted Ohio State to a fourth straight season of 20-plus wins in 2024-25, as the Buckeyes finished 26-7 overall (13-5 B1G) and advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Jaloni Cambridge leads a high-octane Ohio State attack that ranks 11th nationally in scoring, averaging 87.9 points per game. A unanimous First Team All-Big Ten pick as a freshman last season, Cambridge sits fifth on the league scoring chart, putting up 19.9 points per contest.
Chance Gray has gotten her senior campaign off to a fast start, averaging 13.7 points through the Buckeyes' first seven contests. Gray has knocked down a team-best 14 attempts from beyond the three-point arc for an Ohio State side that attempts a Big Ten-high 26.6 three-point shots per game.

Northwestern and Ohio State are set to meet for the 71st time in Sunday's league opener. Winners of the last five matchups, the Buckeyes own a 49-21 (.700) lead in the all-time series.
Since head coach Joe McKeown's arrival in Evanston prior to the 2008-09 season, Northwestern is 6-11 (.353) in its Big Ten Conference openers.
