Northwestern to compete at Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Cougar Alumni Open

EVANSTON, Ill. (December 4, 2025) – Fresh off a wildly successful cross country campaign, Northwestern will now turn its attention toward the track, as it raises the curtain on its 2025-26 indoor schedule by competing at a pair of meets this weekend.

The 'Cats will send a select group of athletes to Boston, Mass. for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Saturday afternoon, while another squad will be in action close to home at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center at Gately Park for Friday's Cougar Alumni Open in Chicago, Ill.

Northwestern is scheduled to compete in the elite sections of both the 3,000m run and 5,000m run at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.  FloTrack will provide coverage of the meet's full elite window, which is slated to begin at 2 p.m. CT.

The Wildcats will begin action at the Cougar Alumni Open at 5:40 p.m. CT in the mile run.  Athletes are also slated to race in the 300m dash, 800m run, and 3,000m run at the meet, which will be streamed on NEC Front Row.

Northwestern looks to build off a historic 2025 cross country season, in which it climbed as high as No. 8 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches Poll and secured the program's fourth berth to the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

USTFCCCA All-Region honorees Ava Earl, Skye Ellis, Jackie Holman, and Maddy Whitman are set to get their indoor slates underway at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, where they will be joined by Second Team All-Big Ten honoree Ava Criniti.

Following this weekend's competitions, Northwestern resumes its indoor schedule following the turn of the calendar year, making the short trip to Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood for the Phoenix Invitational on Saturday, January 10.
