Defender played all 90 minutes, dished out an assist in win over No. 17 Indiana last week
EVANSTON, Ill. (November 5, 2025) – After playing a vital role in last week's win over No. 17 Indiana, Northwestern University junior Bryant Mayer has been named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.
Mayer made his presence felt at both ends of the field in the Wildcats' 2-0 blanking of the Hoosiers this past Friday at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium. The 6-foot-1 defender played all 90 minutes as Northwestern became just the third team this season to hold a vaunted Indiana attack scoreless. He also provided a vital assist on Alejandro Martinez Santamaria's game-winning goal in the 59th minute.
A native of Owings Mills, Md., Mayer has started in nine of his 11 appearances this season after battling through a preseason injury. He has contributed to three shutouts and played a full 90 minutes on five occasions. Mayer has also been credited with a pair of assists on the year, bringing his career total in the category to 10.
Northwestern concludes the 2025 regular season on Friday, November 7 with a 7 p.m. CT matchup with Ohio State at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.
