Wrestling Visits Princeton for Sunday Morning Dual Match

PRINCETON, N.J. - After kicking off its dual season against SIUE last weekend, Northwestern wrestling is headed to Princeton on Sunday to take on the Tigers. The dual is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite the loss last weekend at SIUE, four Northwestern wrestlers picked up victories. Among them was No. 15 Sean Spidle, who made his Northwestern debut with a 2–0 win at 133, defeating his opponent with an escape and the riding-time point. At 157 pounds, Gunnar Myers delivered an impressive performance in the first dual action of his career. After an opening takedown, he held off Hayden Whidden to secure a 5–2 win. Later, at 184 lbs, J.D. Perez racked up three takedowns to take a 9–2 lead by the end of the first period. His opponent attempted a comeback, but Perez pulled away for a dominant 19–8 major decision. Dedrick Navarro rounded out the group with a 2-1 decision at 125 pounds.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
The Tigers head into the second weekend of their dual season with a 1-2 record after falling to No. 19 Pitt and West Virginia and defeating Appalachian State last weekend. Princeton enters action against Northwestern with four ranked wrestlers: No. 18 Marc-Anthony McGowan at 125 lbs, No. 24 Elijah Rivera at 149 lbs, No. 19 Ty Whalen at 157 lbs and No. 19 Kole Mulhauser at 184 lbs.
Northwestern and Princeton last met on December 5, 2015, when the Tigers won a 24-18 dual against the 'Cats in Princeton. Despite the loss, the all-time series still stands 3-1 in Northwestern's favor.
