Northwestern set for sixth all-time meeting with a MEAC member
EVANSTON, Ill. (November 13, 2025) – Off to a 2-0 start on the young 2025-26 season, Northwestern looks to complete a perfect opening homestand on Friday evening when it battles Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in a 6:30 p.m. CT tilt inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.
LAST TIME OUT
Grace Sullivan poured in a game-high 25 points as Northwestern jumped out to an early double-digit lead and never looked back in a 64-51 win over visiting SIUE this past Sunday. Sullivan shot north of 70 percent from the field, hitting on 10-of-14 attempts, en route to her top offensive performance as a Wildcat. For her efforts across two wins last week, Sullivan, who averaged 21.5 points and 12.0 rebounds, was named to the Big Ten Conference's Weekly Honor Roll.
Tate Lash joined Sullivan in double figures on the afternoon, chipping in 11 points. For the second time in as many games, Tayla Thomas reached double figures in rebounding, pulling in 11 caroms, in addition to scoring nine points. Caroline Lau flirted with a triple-double, finishing with nine points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
SCOUTING UMES
After dropping a 62-48 decision on the road at VCU on its regular-season opener, UMES picked up back-to-back wins at home, dispatching Cheyney, 91-37, and Monmouth, 71-66.
Voted third in the MEAC Preseason Poll, the Hawks are led by head coach Malikah Willis. In her first season at the helm in 2024-25, Willis guided UMES to a 14-17 overall finish that included an 8-6 ledger in league play.
Ashanti Lynch and Brianna Barnes were both tabbed as Preseason All-MEAC honorees. Lynch, who averaged career-best marks across multiple statistical categories last season, pumped in a career-best 22 points in the Hawks' win over Monmouth earlier in the week. Barnes has enjoyed a strong start to her senior campaign, scoring in double figures in two of UMES' first three games. Kaliya Perry has provided a spark off the bench while also establishing herself as a force inside for Willis' team. The freshman leads the Hawks' roster in scoring (11.3 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg), and blocks (1.0 bpg).

Friday's homestand finale will serve as the first meeting between Northwestern and UMES.
