EVANSTON, Ill. - After a 3-1 comeback win at No. 10 Iowa, Northwestern field hockey's Juliana Boon and Ilse Tromp have earned conference accolades. Excelling on both sides of the ball, the pair of 'Cats return to the Big Ten weekly honor roll, announced Monday afternoon.
Boon notched her 10th win as the No. 1 Wildcats' goalkeeper, posting five saves en route to her first Freshman of the Week award. Tromp scored two goals against the Hawkeyes to keep the 'Cats' unbeaten streak alive and collect Defensive Player of the Week honors. NU improved to 10-0 (2-0 Big Ten), and extended its conference regular-season winning streak to 22 games.
Redshirt first-year goalkeeper Boon brings home her third weekly honor from the Big Ten, after already capturing Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
After her third five-save game of the season, she leads qualified Big Ten goalkeepers in goals allowed (three), GAA (0.3), save percentage (.921), and wins (10).
Tromp completes the Big Ten weekly trifecta, earning her third unique conference honor, and second this season. Receiving Big Ten Freshman of the Week (Oct. 9, 2023) and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 22, 2025), Tromp becomes the first-ever player to bring home each of the three awards. The early October accomplishment also marks three weeks in a row with NU represented in the weekly awards.
Tromp led the No. 1 Northwestern Wildcats' offense this weekend, notching two goals for her fourth multi-goal game this year. Her 10th and 11th goals of the season, Tromp evened the top-10 matchup against No. 10 Iowa in the third quarter, after trailing for over 20 minutes. She then pushed the 'Cats to their first lead of the game in the 49th minute. Tromp took only two shots in the game, cashing them both in for the tying and go-ahead scores. The junior has already matched her previous seasons' goal totals, just halfway through the 2025 campaign. She now leads NU in goals (11) and game winners (five), and is second in points (22). Tromp is now third in the conference in goals (11) and fourth in points (22).
Boon, Tromp, and the 'Cats host two games in Evanston, this Friday, Oct. 10, and Monday, Oct. 13. NU hosts Penn State for a Big Ten battle on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. On Monday, the 'Cats take on No. 8 Princeton at 2 p.m. CT. Both games will be streamed on B1G+.
