Wildcats Fall in East Lake Cup Final

ATLANTA, Ga. (October 29) – The Northwestern University women's golf team concluded their fall slate at the East Lake Cup, battling difficult conditions in Wednesday's championship match against Oregon.
After toppling No. 2 USC 4-1 in Tuesday's semifinal match, the Wildcats matched up against No. 3 Oregon in the final, where they ultimately defeated by a 4-1 margin.
Senior Dianna Lee contributed the lone point for the 'Cats, closing off a dominant week with a 5&4 win over Shyla Singh. Lee, the individual winner at the East Lake Cup, took the lead for good on the seventh hole and closed the door with a birdie on hole 14.
Hsin Tai Lin saw her comeback effort fall just short to Tong An on the 18th hole. After trailing by two holes on hole 15, Tai Lin won consecutive holes to take the match to 18, where An claimed the match with a par.
Arianna Lau posted a comeback of her own against Oregon's Suvichaya Vinijchaitham, utilizing four birdies on her back nine, but was matched with a birdie from Vinijchaitham on hole 17 to end the match.
Sent off in the final pairing, Megan Meng carded birdies on holes eight and 12, but ultimately fell 3&2 to Oregon's Kiara Romero, the No. 1 ranked women's amateur golfer in the world.
Playing in the opening pairing, Ashley Yun fell 5&4 to Sophie Han.
