EVANSTON, Ill. - Posting two ranked conference wins on the road, Northwestern field hockey's Juliana Boon and Ashley Sessa were tabbed for Big Ten Player of the Week honors. The goalkeeper and forward, respectively, both bring home the awards for the second time this season.
Boon was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, while Sessa earned her fifth Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week accolade. The Wildcats (13-1, 5-0 Big Ten) extended their conference regular season winning streak to 25 games, and will now seek to clinch the conference regular season title this weekend.
The redshirt first-year goalkeeper and the Wildcats have now collected nine shutouts, with Boon reaching a season total of 48 saves and a save percentage of .870. Taking on three top-15 opponents, she has faced 17 shots and helped NU remain perfect in conference play. Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Boon last won the award on Oct. 6, 2025. She has also earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice this season (Sept. 8, Sept. 22).
Boon leads qualified Big Ten goalkeepers in goals against average (0.50), save percentage (.873), shutouts (eight) and wins (12). The rookie ranks second in the conference in goals allowed (seven).
On the offensive side, Sessa led the 'Cats this week, notching four goals and an assist for a total of nine points over two games. At No. 15 Rutgers, the junior claimed her third-career hat trick, scoring three goals. Sessa's last hat trick was also against the Scarlet Knights, last season on Oct. 4. She leads all 'Cats in points (36), is tied for the team lead in goals (Tromp, 11), and is the only 'Cat with double digits in goals and assists. The junior leads the Big Ten in assists (14) and ranks third in the Big Ten in goals (11) and points (36).
Boon, Sessa, and the 'Cats host two games in Evanston, this Friday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 26. NU first takes on No. 14 Michigan on Friday at 3 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network. Returning to Lakeside Field on Sunday, Northwestern will face No. 12 Ohio State at noon CT, to be streamed on B1G+.
