EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern's swimming and diving team return to action on Saturday afternoon after a trip up I-90 to face the Wisconsin Badgers. The meet will take place at Noon CT at Soderholm Family Aquatic Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The event will be streamed live on B1G+ and live results will be available on the MeetMobile app. Follow the team @nuswimdive on Instagram and X.

"We are sure to see some fast swimming this Saturday at our meet against Wisconsin," said director of swimming and diving Rachel Stratton-Mills. "They are a highly competitive team and our squad always gets amped up for competition against them, especially being only a few weeks out from the conference championship. We are looking to build off the momentum from last week's competitions and excited to see what our swimmers can do this weekend."

Last season, when the Badgers visited Evanston, Wisconsin's men's team won 160-139 and the women's team defeated NU, 193-106. Wisconsin is led by two-time Olympian Phoebe Bacon (Paris 2024, 4th place finish, 200m Backstroke and Tokyo 2020, 5th place finish, 200m Backstroke). Her recent accolades include 2024 200 Back NCAA Champion, 2024 Big Ten Swimmer of the Championship, 2024 First Team All-Big Ten and 2023 Big Ten Swimmer of the Year.

The Badgers, who will be celebrating Senior Day, are coming off dominant wins. The No. 12 women most recently faced off against UC San Diego and UCLA on January 4. Wisconsin won every event except one. Bacon won all four of her events. The men's team, ranked 18th in the country, competed in a dual with UC San Diego, where they won every event. Badger Yoav Romano earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week with his first place finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyle and the 400 free relay.

The 'Cats have had an impressive start to their season with the men's team 5-0 and the women's team 4-1. In the team's final home meet of the season, this past Saturday both the men's and women's teams defeated both Penn State and UChicago. The night before, the 'Cats were flawless against Southern Indiana winning all 26 events (recap).

Against Penn State and UChicago, two Norris Aquatics Center pool records were broken: Cade Duncan (42.75) in the 100 freestyle and Tyler Lu (1:45.23) in the 200 individual medley. In addition, Duncan's splits on Saturday in his relays – 18.83 in the 200 medley and 21.22/43.31 in the 400 free – were of note.

Three additional 'Cats head to Wisconsin on hot streaks: Sophie Martin (100 breaststroke and 200 IM), Zoe Nordmann (500 and 1000 freestyle) and Stuart Seymour (100 backstroke and 50 freestyle) all won multiple events on Saturday.

On the diving side versus Penn State and UChicago, 'Cats won three of the four events, highlighted by Adam Cohen and Caroline Li. Cohen won both the 3 meter and 1 meter. Li bested her opponents to win the 1 meter.

NEXT UP: The 'Cats will compete in their final competition before the Big Tens, a triple dual with Minnesota and Purdue in Minneapolis January 31-February 1. The Big Ten Championships take place February 19-22 in Columbus, OH. The entire 2024-25 schedule can be found here and here
