EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Head Baseball Coach Ben Greenspan has announced that football student-athlete Jack Lausch has joined the baseball program as an outfielder.

A standout dual-sport athlete at Brother Rice High School in Chicago, Lausch was rated as the No. 1 outfielder in Illinois and the No. 23 outfielder in the country by Perfect Game. He was named a top 250 prospect in the 2022 MLB Draft, according to Baseball America.

"Jack is an elite athlete with a high-level skillset and has an opportunity to make an immediate impact," Greenspan said. "His leadership qualities and character attributes are exactly what we look for in players, and we are thrilled to have Jack as part of our program."

As a senior, he was voted the 2022 Chicago Catholic League Baseball Player of the Year, was named to the Class 4A All-State team, and earned All-State Academic Team honors, given to 26 of the top student-athletes across the state of Illinois. Lausch led Brother Rice to a Class 4A third-place finish. Lausch hit .386 with a .521 on base percentage with five home runs, 43 RBI, 51 runs scored and 33 stolen bases in his senior season.

The Chicago native started 10 games at quarterback for the Northwestern football team in 2024. He completed 159-of-296 passes for 1,714 yards (53.7%), while rushing 87 times for 213 yards and two touchdowns.

Lausch is Northwestern's first baseball-football dual-sport athlete since Dan Kubiuk played for both programs in 2015-16. Lausch continues to be an active member of the football program and plans to participate in spring practice.
