‘Cats to host trio of home meets during upcoming season
EVANSTON, Ill. (September 24, 2024) – Northwestern University head women's fencing coach Zach Moss announced the Wildcats' schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season on Tuesday. The 'Cats are scheduled to host three home meets, highlighted by the Northwestern Duals in early February.
"This is a challenging schedule that provides us the opportunity to face some of the top teams in the country and find out how we stack up," Moss commented. "We have a deep, strong team, and we are excited to compete against the best. We're looking forward to getting ourselves prepared for a great season and a successful postseason."
After visiting Atlantic City, N.J. for the October North American Cup (Oct. 4-7), Moss' crew will return home for back-to-back meets, hosting the Remenyik ROC/RJCC inside Ryan Fieldhouse (October 12-13) before heading over to Patten Gymnasium for Northwestern Fall Duals (Oct. 27).
November features a pair of challenging dual meets, beginning with a trip west to San Diego, Calif. for the Western Invitational, November 2-3. Following the November North American Cup (Nov. 8-11) in Louisville, Ky., the 'Cats head east for the Elite Invitational on November 17 in Philadelphia, Pa.
2025 kicks off in Kansas City, Mo. at the January North American Cup (Jan. 3-6) before the dual slate ramps up again, beginning with the Tufts Invitational on January 12 in Medford, Mass. Northwestern will make the short trip east to South Bend, Ind. for the DeCicco Duals (Jan. 25).
The 'Cats close out their regular season dual meet slate inside Ryan Fieldhouse at the Northwestern Duals, February 1-2. Ahead of the start of the postseason, select student-athletes will compete at the Junior Olympics, February 14-17, in Charlotte, N.C.
After capturing its first outright Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) team title in program history last season, Northwestern will look to defend its league crown in Detroit, Mich. at the CCFC Championships, February 22-23.
The NCAA Midwest Regionals are set for March 8 in Granville, Ohio, while University Park, Pa. will play host to the 2025 NCAA Fencing Championships, March 22-23.
Northwestern will close out the season at the April North American Cup, April 11-14, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Moss, who brought home his fourth straight CCFC Women's Team Coach of the Year award in 2023-24, welcomes back eight All-CCFC selections from a year ago, a group highlighted by Megumi Oishi (sabre), Karina Vasile (Foil), and Karen Wang (foil), all of whom qualified for the NCAA Championships last season.
