EVANSTON, Ill. – After conceding early, Northwestern responded to salvage a 1-1 draw with Harvard on Sunday afternoon at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.
After Harvard controlled much of the first half, Northwestern outshot the Crimson 16-3 in the second half for an 18-7 advantage in shots and a 10-4 edge in shots on goal. NU has outshot its opponent in eight of its nine games and has registered more shots on goal in all nine games this season.
How it Happened
Harvard broke the deadlock early on a spectacular finish by Josefine Hasbo in the game's fifth minute, assisted by Lauren Muniz. Northwestern started to build toward the end of the second half, earning a penalty kick, but failing to convert before the break.
The Wildcats came out of the intermission strong, creating several dangerous chances before finally breaking through in the game's 78th minute. Nicole Doucette played a ball through to Kelsey Kwon, who played through to Kennedy Roesch. Roesch beat the Crimson defender to the ball and chipped it over the charging keeper to level the game at one apiece.
NU continued to search for the winner, outshooting Harvard 6-0 with the game knotted at one apiece, but did not find the back of the net.78' | GOAL! KENNEDY ROESCH EVENS IT! pic.twitter.com/XO9pe5ec8c
